Wedding Preparations

Hello beautiful bride-to-be's.

We know how daunting it may seem to even start thinking about all aspects that have to come together for your big day. There are so many suppliers to choose, friends & family to invite, hours scouring Pinterest to find that perfect styling, hair design, make up design, THAT dress and the list goes on. When should you start putting all this together you may ask yourself? You are probably thinking right away because you are just too gosh darn excited!

We have a suggested time line below which will help guide you through planning your big day and includes when we, your styling team, would love to sit down with a delicious espresso and get creative together!

10 - 12 months

The most important task during this time is picking your wedding date & venue. Since you are here with us we hope you have chosen Novotel Twin Waters Resort and can give this one a nice big tick! Once your venue is chosen everything else seems to fall nicely into place. Especially with the help of the on-site styling team & your wedding co-ordinator. This is also a good time to set your budget & rough number of guests on your guest list before finalising and sending out 'Save The Dates'.

8 - 10 months

Some big things start coming together now!

The Dress - Organise your girls for some serious & arguably the most important dress shopping in your life! It does take 6 - 8 months for a wedding dress to be custom made so be sure to leave plenty of time. Utilise this time to find your bridesmaids dresses too (if you have a colour scheme).

Celebrant - This is a very important part of your wedding, you will want to choose a celebrant who suits your style and creates a ceremony that will reflect who you are as a couple. Celebrants can book up quite quickly so it's best to start looking early to secure the perfect celebrant for your day.

Photographer/Videographer - Of course you will want to capture your day to cherish the memories forever, lucky for you there are so many beautiful locations around the resort for photos! See our suppliers guide for recommendations!

6 - 8 months

Now that you have locked in those vendors that get snapped up quickly and have your dress on the way, we can spend our evenings searching for inspiration to get that look. Is there a style that defines you as a couple? What is the colour scheme of your dream wedding?

Also, start thinking about what sort of entertainment you would like for both your ceremony and reception. Duo, DJ, Large band?

4 - 6 months

Now is the best part! It's time to come in for your one on one consultation with your wedding stylist! Bring along your ideas and colour scheme and our friendly team will run through absolutely every aspect of your wedding. Don't worry if you are still unsure of what you're after, we will go through all that is included and work with you to discover your style.

There may still be a few suppliers that you have not booked in yet such as hair & make-up, cake and wedding rings. Be sure to try all three of these aspects out before-hand. Book in a hair & make-up trial to make sure you like the style, taste test all the delicious cake flavours of course and be sure to get your rings fitted.

Start to work on wording for your invitations as well and planning your honeymoon flights, accommodation etc.

2 - 4 months

At the 2 months mark you will receive an email from your Novotel Twin Waters Resort wedding co-ordinator with a life saving check list where you will add in any and every little detail about your wedding day. It should make you feel 100 x more organised! We will also send out an additional items checklist for any personalised items you are bringing in that you would like us to set!

Make sure all the other accessories are ready to go: Have you got a veil? Have you got your shoes and jewellery? Remember to break these in before the wedding! You will thank yourself on the day.

Are all the bits and pieces sorted for the bridesmaids (shoes & jewellery)? Have the groom the groomsmen got their suits fitted and ready?

Have you given the celebrant the 'Notice to Intended Marriage' documents? These are required one month prior to the big day!

1 - 2 months

Now it's time to tie off those lose ends and get everything finalised! The final checklist that is sent out 2 months prior will also come with a seating plan and floor plan, this is where you will add all dietary requirements and where you would like each guest to be seated.

Have a chat with your entertainment and MC to go through the run of the night, which songs you would like played at certain points of the night, ie. first dance, entrance song etc.

Try on your dress with all your accessories so you can see what is all looks like together, remember to keep breaking in those shoes!

Check that your hen's and buck's nights are definitely in the planning stages.

1 Week

Come in for your final meeting with us to run through the entire day, we will go through all the timings, styling and transfers with you so you have nothing to worry about on the day!

Bring in any additional items you may have, bonbonnieres, guest book, personalised presents, etc. All of these little extras we are happy to put out for you!

Relax and enjoy the resort, enjoy the lagoon and beach and get some rest before the big day. We take care of everything on the day so there's no need to stress!
