Everything you need to know to prepare for your big day
Congratulations on choosing the Novotel Twin Waters Resort for your special day! Securing the venue is the number one priority, once you have chosen the date and secured the venue the rest falls into place with the help of our team!
By now you would have a rough idea of how many people you are wanting to invite, once the venue and date is locked in we recommend sending out the 'Save the dates'. Make sure you have a list of everyone you wish to invite and who you would like to be in your bridal party.
This is when you will start getting the big things together, such as:
- Shopping for a dress! Most bridal shops require a minimum of 6 months for fittings so be sure to start your dress shopping as early as possible!
- Choosing a celebrant: This is a very important part of your wedding, you need to choose a celebrant who suits your style and will fit well with your wedding. Celebrants can book up quite quickly so it's best to start looking early to secure the perfect celebrant for your day.
Select a colour scheme for your wedding, sit down and think about what you would like for bridesmaid's dresses, flowers, suits, etc. Get a wedding folder together or create a pinterest board for some inspiration and ideas.
Now it's time to start locking in other external suppliers.
There are so many beautiful locations around the resort for photos so securing a photographer and/or videographer is a must!
There are many amazing florists around the Sunshine Coast, each with their own individual style! Decide on your colour scheme and theme you're going for and choose a florist which fits in!
If you're having trouble deciding we have a few recommended suppliers that have been to the resort before and know the location well! Just give us a quick email.
Plum, Lilac & Grey
Burgundy, Navy & Gold
Now is the best part! It's time to come in for your one on one consultation with your wedding stylist! Bring along your ideas and colour scheme and our friendly team will run through absolutely every aspect of your wedding. Don't worry if you are still unsure of what you're after, we will go through everything that is included and work with you to discover your taste.
This is also a good time to start looking at hair and make-up artists for yourself and your bridesmaids. This gives enough time to have a few trials with different artists to see who suits your style best.
Have a think about what type of cake you would like ie. traditional, donut wall, cheesecake, etc. This is the time to start looking at cake options and to secure your perfect one.
Time to send out the invitations to ensure there's enough time for RSVPs! We require the final numbers and dietary needs one month prior to the wedding.
We send out a wedding checklist 2 months prior to the wedding, this just goes through the run of the night and any external suppliers on the day.
Although not mandatory we suggest booking a menu tasting, this gives you a chance to make the final decisions on your menu and wines (and an excuse for a lovely lunch or dinner date)!
Whether your wedding ring to your partner is a surprise or you're shopping for them together, now is the time to make those final decisions and make sure the sizing is right.
Make sure all the other accessories are ready to go:
Have you got a veil? Have you got your shoes sorted? Remember to break these in before the wedding! You will thank yourself on the day. Have you got all the jewellery? Have you got all the jewellery for the bridesmaids? Are their shoes sorted? Is the groom's suit sorted? Have the groomsmen got their suits ready? Are you wanting to get presents for the bridesmaids & groomsmen? Presents for your family?
Order some bonbonnieres for your wedding guests as a special thanks.
Make sure you have given your celebrant your 'Notice to Intended Marriage' documents! These are required one month prior to the wedding.
This month will go quickly so it's important to tie off any loose ends!
Do up your seating plan and send us back your wedding checklist so we can finalise things on our end.
Sit down with your entertainment and discuss which songs you would like played and when, and if you have certain songs for entrance and the first dance, etc. If you have a separate MC make sure everyone is on the same page on how you would like the night to run.
Have your final dress fitting with all your accessories so you can see what it all looks like together, remember to keep breaking in those shoes!
Purchase a guest book for your gift table for everyone to leave notes in so you'll never forget!
If you are doing speeches, now is the time to prepare! Discuss with your significant other who is doing speeches, and who you want from your family and friends to do a speech. Discuss if you would want your vows to be a secret from your partner or if you want to share them beforehand.
Check that your bridesmaids and groomsmen are arranging the hen's and buck's nights!
Come in for your final meeting with us to run through the entire day, we will go through all the timings, styling and transfers with you so you have nothing to worry about on the day!
Bring in your bonbonnieres and guest book for us to set up for you on the day!
Relax and enjoy the resort, enjoy the lagoon and beach and get some rest before the big day! We take care of everything on the day so there's no need to stress!
